The world is a wild place today and it’s unfortunate to see kids who are forced to attend school – whether they like it or not – being put in precarious situations where threats are continuously present and such obligation can be fatal if the proper security measures aren’t put in place. And history shows exactly that.

Tennessee Lookout provided an interesting breakdown of a local issue taking place that led to multiple arrests after social media posts and eludes to where things are headed in the future.

They stated: “Mitchell, who is running for election to Tennessee’s 7th Congressional District, said he pushed for stricter punishment against school threats two years ago at the request of Republican House Speaker Cameron Sexton when police converged on his son’s Nashville high school in response to a threat.”

The article went on to add: “The bipartisan bill, which was carried in the Senate by former Republican Sen. Jon Lundberg of Briston, passed by a wide margin. Mitchell acknowledged that law enforcement and school administrators might have been overzealous after the Covenant shooting law enforcement but had no choice except to take similar threats seriously because of the trauma they cause children.”

This is one example of many around pushing for legislation to keep kids safe, and a topic our team of journalists watches closely and will continue to report on.
